AFRICAN AMERICANS AND THE ARTS 2024’s theme for Black History Month is “African Americans and the Arts” which takes a look at how African Americans have used art to preserve history and community memory as well as for empowerment. ART CONTEST (Grades 1-4 & 5-8) Submit a painting, drawing or collage of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and include the words history, community and empowerment within your artwork.
