Are you a high school student looking to make a real difference in your community? New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins is officially looking for motivated young leaders to join her Youth Advisory Council (YAC) for the 35th Senate District!

This is a unique chance for local students to step inside the world of state government, build their resumes, and ensure the voices of young people are heard in Albany.


Why Should You Join?

Being a part of the YAC isn’t just about politics—it’s about developing skills that will last a lifetime. Members of the council will:

  • Earn Community Service Hours: Get credit for the hard work you put into your community.

  • Gain Professional Skills: Learn the ins and outs of leadership, public speaking, and community organizing.

  • Experience the Legislative Process: Participate in a Mock Legislative Session and learn firsthand how laws are made in New York.

  • Lead Projects: Plan and participate in workshops and advocacy projects that matter to you.

Who Is Eligible?

To apply, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Age: Must be between 14 and 18 years old.

  • Residency: Must live in Senate District 35 (which includes Yonkers, the Town of Greenburgh, and the Town of Mount Pleasant).
