Bulldogs Keep Rolling: Yonkers Earns Second Straight Home Win Over Riverside

The Yonkers High School Bulldogs Boys Varsity Basketball team continues to build momentum, defending their home court with a strong 44–32 victory over the Riverside Rams on December 18, 2025. The win marks the Bulldogs’ second victory of the season and brings their record to an even 2–2, a clear sign of progress as the team finds its rhythm.

From the opening tip, Yonkers set the tone with disciplined defense, relentless hustle, and unselfish play on both ends of the floor. The Bulldogs limited Riverside’s scoring opportunities and controlled the tempo, forcing turnovers and turning defense into timely offense. It was a complete team effort that reflected the growth and confidence developing within the roster.

Several Bulldogs delivered standout performances in the win.
Justin Rosado led the charge with an all-around performance, finishing with 11 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and an impressive 5 steals, constantly disrupting the Rams’ offense. Emil Boykin provided a strong presence inside, contributing 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists while anchoring the paint. Alex Gomez added energy and playmaking, scoring 9 points while tallying 2 assists and 4 steals, keeping the pressure on Riverside throughout the game. Luke Runge continued to dominate the glass, racking up 12 rebounds to go along with 8 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals, showcasing his consistency and physicality.

First-year head coach Julius Henry was pleased with the team’s performance and overall trajectory. He continues to emphasize development and chemistry, and it is paying off as the Bulldogs show noticeable improvement with each game. The effort, intensity, and buy-in from the players are becoming more evident every time they take the floor.

The Bulldogs now turn their attention to a big opportunity on Friday night. Yonkers will face the Blue Devils on December 19th at 4:00 PM at Saunders High School. The Blue Devils handed the Bulldogs a loss in the home opener on December 4th, and Yonkers is eager for redemption. With growing confidence and momentum on their side, the Bulldogs are looking to get one back and continue their climb.

As the season unfolds, the Bulldogs are proving they are a team on the rise—hungry, improving, and ready to compete. The future is bright for Yonkers High School Boys Varsity Basketball.
