The Bank of America Student Leaders program is a prestigious initiative designed to empower and support high school juniors and seniors who exhibit exceptional leadership skills and a commitment to making a positive impact in their communities. This program, sponsored by Bank of America, aims to provide young individuals with the tools, resources, and experiences necessary to develop into the next generation of community and business leaders.
Selected participants in the Bank of America Student Leaders program gain access to a comprehensive eight-week summer internship that includes hands-on work experience, mentorship opportunities, and a series of leadership development seminars. The program is specifically crafted to enhance students’ understanding of the workforce, financial literacy, and community engagement.
One of the distinctive features of the Student Leaders program is its emphasis on community service. Participants are encouraged to engage in meaningful community projects and initiatives that address pressing social issues. This not only fosters a sense of civic responsibility but also allows students to apply their leadership skills in practical, real-world situations.

Letter of Recommendation Fact Sheet
Student Leaders is an eight‐week summer experience for high school juniors and seniors. The program includes a paid internship with a local nonprofit organization as well as the Student Leaders Summit in Washington, D.C., July 22-27, 2024. The program gives students the opportunity to develop and apply leadership skills through hands‐on community work while discovering their own talents for serving their community and leading others. Required letters of recommendation must:
- Include student’s full name
- Affirm that the student is in good standing at school
- Provide insight into the student’s leadership qualities and community service activities
- Provide insight into the student’s potential to benefit from the Student Leaders program
- Be submitted on school letterhead and include the signature of recommender
- Be in pdf format
* Please note – supplemental letters must also be in pdf form, but do not need to be from a student’s school nor on school letterhead.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- A letter of recommendation is required for all applicants. All applications without a letter of recommendation will be disqualified.
- Required letters not meeting the guidelines above will be disqualified. This does not apply to supplemental letters.
- There are two ways to include your letter of recommendation
o You may upload a letter from your teacher directly in the application o Your teacher may upload the letter directly through a link
- In your application you will be asked for contact information for your recommender. Once your application is submitted you recommender will receive an email (sent from [email protected]) that will include a link and your request ID. They may follow that link to upload your letter. Please note – they will need your request ID to do so. If the request ID is entered incorrectly the letter will not be paired with the application.
- Regardless of how your letter is submitted, you must submit your application by 11:59 pm eastern on Wednesday, January 17.
- You may also share the link with your recommender. It is:https://www.cybergrants.com/boa/recommendation
- All letters submitted through the link must be received no later than 11:59 pm EST on Thursday, January 18. Late letters will not be accepted.

- The recommendation letter must be submitted electronically and may not be mailed, e-mailed, or faxed separately.
